Hello from the Christian Hope Indian Eskimo Fellowship Center in Phoenix, Arizona.
Flagstaff was all that I needed it to be.
Window Rock and Fort Defiance was too.
This trip has been amazing!!
My tour guides, Karen Antone and Kathy Antone Arbeau are the kind of sisters that I wish my sister and I were.
I think I found my real life "hero", only I didn't tell him at the nice potluck we were having that I need a photo of him for the publishing house cover artist. I've also gotten 2 culturally appropriate Navajo names from my friend Helen Yazzie for my main character and his wife.
Tomorrow we're going to SLEEP IN!!!!!
Thankyou for your prayers.
Jennifer
Sounds awesome! I love trips like that. :)
ReplyDeleteJust read these 2 posts and MAGUA! My hubby will be impressed, since LAST OF THE MOHICANS is like his fave movie in the whole world, worthy of several re-viewings per year. And that is horrid what happened to the Navajo. I am SO GLAD you are getting this on-the-spot info! Will keep praying!
ReplyDeleteJennifer - I read all your posts and now I'm caught up! First, I'm so happy you made it safely and that you're having such a great time. Second, the stories you shared about the march of the Navajo is utterly terrible. So many people believe that our world is more horrible now, but I contend that it's been horrible since the Fall of Adam. Awful suffering and sinful acts make me sick to my stomach.
ReplyDeleteOn a brighter note, I'm so happy you found your hero (even if he didn't realize it!) and that you are getting great information from real sources. Someday I'd love to hear why you chose this setting for your book - it's one I'm looking forward to reading, my friend! Prays go out with you on your journey!
Jennifer - I can't wait to find out how you get your photo... oh, to be a fly on the wall for that.
ReplyDeleteSo glad it's going well - will continue to pray.
Jennifer, I'm so glad that to hear you get some rest. And you are sounding so much more energized. I'm glad that you are getting what you needed from the trip, even though it has been rough physically and emotionally. Stay safe and well. Blessings.
